Julius Erving, started life in Hampstead, New York.As a child, Julius, used much of his free time playing basketball. He got the nickname Dr. J from a teacher. In junior high school coaches recognized his talent right away. He had many offers of scholarships it took him days just to sift through the many letters.He went to the University of Massachusetts.He left U-Mass. after his junior year to turn Pro. He played in the ABA league first,then he went to the Philadelphia 76ers.In1981 he was a shining star Dr.J.was voted M.V.P.of the league.
